A famous composer, an even more famous violinist, a conductor and pianist, George Enesco was one of the most unique musicians of the 20th century, one whose influence spans both Europe and America and countless musicians and fellow composers.
Working with a stunning group of New York jazz iconoclasts at the edge of classical, jazz, downtown improv and contemporary music, pianist Lucian Ban, together with “Down Beat winner bassist” John Hebert re-orchestrates and re-interprets Enesco's music legacy in a daring contemporary jazz re-imagination.
The Octet features some of the most “forward thinking musicians that push the music into the new millennium” : master violist and Grammy nominee Mat Maneri , the New York Times' “contemporary master saxophonist” Tony Malaby , virtuoso modern master trumpet player Ralph Alessi , virtuoso violinist Joyce Hammann , and visionary drummer Gerald Cleaver . Add to this line-up the foremost exponent of tabla in jazz music, the legendary Badal Roy , a collaborator of legends like Miles Davis, John McLaughlin, and Yoko Ono, and you're sure to witness a performance unlike anything you've ever heard before.

Perpheral Vision is one of the more exciting and innovative jazz quartets to have recently appeared on the international jazz scene. The creative leaders of the group, guitarist Don Scott and bassist Mike Herring, are long-time musical collaborators. They have assembled a synergistic musical unit designed to push the boundaries of jazz while engaging the listener with a grooving. toe-dancing immediacy. You can hear the influences of the classic 1960's era of jazz - Wayne Shorter, Booker Little, Charles Mingus - mixed with the modern New York scene - David Binney, Chris Potter, Kurt Rosenwinkel, and Dave Douglas, along with hints of Radiohead, raggae, and electronica.
